Pacific Star Lab offers precise and reproducible testing services
for all cannabis analytes required in the state of California.

Cannabinoids
Cannabinoids are naturally-produced molecules inherent in cannabis responsible for the pharmacological and psychoactive properties of the plant. Over 113 cannabinoids have been identified in cannabis. Our test quantifies the potency of products using the following major cannabinoids as required by the state of California:
Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THCA),delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), delta-8-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA),
Cannabidiol (CBD),Cannabinol (CBN),Cannabigerolic Acid (CBGA), Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabidivarin (CBDV), Tetrahydrocannbidivarin (THCV), Cannabichrome (CBC)
Terpenes
Terpenes are naturally-produced molecules inherent in most plants, including cannabis, and are largely responsible for smell and taste flavor profiles. A unique mixture of many terpenes can create complex product experiences which is the reason they may be reintroduced or added during the manufacturing process. Our test quantifies the following 21 terpenes:
alpha-Pinene, (-)-beta-Pinene, Camphene,beta-Myrcene,delta 3-carene, alpha-Terpinene, gamma-Terpinene ,Terpinolene, p-Cymene, d-Limonene, Ocimene, Linalool, (-)-Isopulegol, Geraniol,beta-Caryophyllene, alpha-Humulene, Nerolidol, (-)-Guaiol, (-)alpha-Bisabolol
(-)-Caryophyllene Oxide, Eucalyptol.
Residual Solvents
Residual Solvents are remnant chemicals used in manufacturing processes to concentrate cannabinoids and terpenes into oils, wax, shatter and other highly-potent cannabis products. These chemicals are harmful when consumed, so it is necessary to ensure their complete removal before these types of products can be released to the market. Our test quantifies the 20 solvents mandated by the state of California, namely benzene and simple alkanes as well as their oxidized and chlorinated derivatives.

Pesticides

Pesticides are used to protect crops against insects and other organisms that eat them. Like the foods you buy at the grocery store, cannabis needs to be tested and confirmed free of specific harmful pesticides to be safe for consumption. Our test ensures that none of the 66 pesticides mandated by the state of California are in the materials and products going through the supply chain that ultimately get into consumers’ hands.

Heavy Metals

Heavy Metals are singular atoms of high molecular mass that are deleterious to human health, particularly with regard to the nervous system. Cannabis has a propensity to effectively absorb heavy metals from soil and water, so products need to be confirmed free of harmful levels of these. Our test measures the amount of cadmium, arsenic, lead and mercury in products, as required by the state of California.

Microbials

Microbials include E. coli, Salmonella and Aspergillus which are microscopic organisms that contaminate both food and cannabis products. Our test screens these products for traces of microbial DNA to determine if they are safe for consumption.

Water

Water content is important in cannabis products because wet environments cultivate mold, mildew and micro-organism growth in general. Our test measures the moisture content and water activity of cannabis products to ensure they meet the state of California standards

Vitamin E coming soon

Vitamin E has been associated with health risks in vape products. Although not currently mandated by the state of California, our test provides additional assurance that products are safe for inhaled consumption.
